Travel-time stamping: recording the drive between two sites
Someone working at one site in the morning and driving to the next at midday spends that time on duty – but it belongs to no customer project. With travel-time stamping your staff pick “site change” when clocking out; the time until the next clock-in is recorded as an entry of its own, without a project. This article covers switching it on, what upper limit makes sense, and what happens when a drive takes longer than allowed.

Does travel time count as working time?
Yes. It is kept as a time entry of its own, feeds into the hours worked and affects overtime. It deliberately belongs to no project and no client, though – a site change belongs to no job and therefore does not distort any costing.
Is the journey from home to the first site recorded?
No. The first stamp of a day never creates travel time – there is no earlier site to have changed from. Only a change between two jobs on the same day is recorded.
What upper limit should I set?
You can set 5 to 240 minutes, 60 by default. Take your realistic longest drive between two of your sites as the guide. Anything above that should be reviewed and added manually rather than credited automatically.
What happens if a drive takes longer than the limit?
Then nothing is credited automatically. The real stamp at the destination counts unchanged, and the entry's history records that a travel time was not counted. You add the actual driving time manually – a manual site change is deliberately not subject to the limit.
Does travel time receive the paid-break credit?
No. Travel time and breaks are different things: a break is a gap without working time, travel time is time worked. A drive therefore earns no break credit and does not start the statutory rest period either.
What if no further job follows the drive?
While the person is travelling, the app shows that state and offers a button to end the travel time explicitly – on returning to the depot, for instance. Without ending it and without a next stamp, no travel time is created.
