Is time tracking legally required in care services?

In the EU, yes. Since the Court of Justice ruling C-55/18 in 2019, employers must record working time objectively, reliably and accessibly; each member state implements this in its own law. For mobile care this matters especially, because the duty roster is often made to serve as the record – but a roster shows what was planned, not the time actually worked.

How is travel time between two clients recorded?

Through the site-change function: the carer clocks the change when leaving the home, the drive runs as its own entry, and the next visit starts on arrival. You set an upper limit so a forgotten clock-out does not become an hours-long journey. That ends the flat-rate estimate that regularly causes disputes in mobile care.

How do we evidence who was with which client and when?

Every clock-in belongs to a visit and therefore to a client, with time and duration. The strongest form is the NFC tag in the home: it is tapped on arrival, so the record is created at the place itself rather than later at the office. The export gives you the breakdown per client and per visit.

Does the app work without internet, for example in old buildings or basements?

Yes. The clock-in is stored on the device first and transmitted automatically once there is reception again. The carer notices nothing and has nothing to enter later – which matters in thick old walls, basement flats and rural dead spots.

Do carers need a company email address?

No. Sign-in works with a mobile number and a one-time code. In care that is usually the more practical route, because many staff have no company email. With the NFC tag, clocking in needs no sign-in step at all.

Does it help with rest periods and split shifts?

Yes. Jobilino knows the stored values for breaks, maximum working time and rest periods and sends a push notification before a limit is reached. With split shifts and short-notice cover that is exactly where a rest period otherwise gets undercut without anyone noticing.

What about the data protection of client data?

Jobilino records working time, not care documentation and no health data. A visit is linked to a client so the time stays attributable – nothing more. Data is held on servers in the EU, processing is GDPR-compliant, and you control through teams who can see which visits at all.

How quickly can a care service be up and running?

Budget about an hour for setup: enter rounds, clients and staff, define teams, hand out NFC tags. Carers need no training – holding the phone to the tag is enough. It works best to start with one round in the first week before switching the whole service over.
